Despite her limited access to formal education, Dhan's journey to success is a testament to her resilience and determination. At the tender age of 8, Dhan began helping her parents at their canteen in Singapore's Changi airport. By the time she turned 10, she had mastered the art of making roti canai after being taught by a young shop owner. Eventually, the shop ownership transitioned to Dhan's parents, solidifying her skills in this traditional cuisine. Dhan's early proficiency in making roti canai garnered attention, leading to an interview offer from a Singaporean journalist when she was just a child. However, due to her shy nature at the time, she declined the opportunity. When Dhan was 13, the rent increase forced the closure of the roti canai shop. Undeterred, she pursued sewing classes while also working at a restaurant. With encouragement from her sewing teacher, Dhan began taking sewing orders and excelled in this new endeavor.
